Marina Del Rey has been called the "gateway to the pacific". It was built in the early 1960's and formally dedicated April 10, 1965, It is the largest man-made marina in the world. The marina is home to the California Yacht club and Del Rey Sport Fishing & Whale Watching Tours (private charters). There are places where smaller craft can be rented in Fisherman's Village.
You can enjoy seaside dining at Fisherman's Village at the Marina. Just off of Admirality Way at Fiji Way, you can park and walk around the shops near the water. The Fish Market and El Torito are excellent in the Village. You can enjoy fish and chips with a beer watching the boats go by and if it's Sunday, you'll be listening to live jazz in the courtyard. If you traveled by bike, there are racks to hang and lock your bikes up.
