Reversing video is not a built in feature of Windows Movie Maker 2.1. There is an easy solution using 2 simple and free programs. The first program is Prism video converter and the second program is Video Time Reversal. We’ll use the video converter to convert our video to DV or the lossless Huffyuv format, and then use Video Time Reversal to reverse the video. Converting the video to DV or Huffyuv format first allows the Video Time Reversal program to do a clean conversion. Attempting to reverse video made in other compressed formats such as XVID or Divx can result in unpredictable (bad) results. You can also use your own favorite video converter if you have one, or you could use the built in converter in Windows Movie Maker to save your movie to DV-AVI format. I prefer to use a separate video converter while I am editing in Movie Maker.

Step One: Convert the Video to DV format.
Open Prism video converter, click on the green plus sign and add your file to convert.
Add video to be converted

Click the Browse button to choose a location to save your converted video. In the output format box choose .avi. Click the Encoder Options button and choose DV video encoder.

Prism Video converter click encoder options and select DV video encoder.

Click the Convert button to begin the conversion process.

Step Two: Reverse the video with Video Time Reversal program.

Start the Video Time Reversal program and click the “Parcourir” button to add the .avi video file you converted to the DV format.
